Thank you Pandora....that upward climb was getting a bit much......After last night, however, I believe it could be a down hill run.
Did I discount the brickworks? silly me!...........went there last night.......went on the site in search of however was in charge to talk to........found machinery making bricks.....it makes that noise which has the fast rising thud.....and lots of clanking and rumbling, incredibly loud, men all wearing ear defenders.
Apparently the new metal
building surrounding it was put there to try and stop the noise disturbing people! Me maybe ![]()
Gave brief details to man in charge......but he's obviously not the person to get things done.....he said he would talk to boss.
JEFF, Hi, do you have any brickworks within a 5 mile radius of your home? The noise we have in common and sounds from your description to be the same as one I hear......could it be.......?
Was there a company name up ???
may be worth a recorded delivery letter....via a solicitor....
go softly softly....few more enquiries...maybe as staff leave building/shift.....when was this equipment first used ??? will the date tie in to your records ???
am sure these activities must have a time limit....say 8am till 6pm and no sundays/bank holidays.....???
to limit people's disturbance.

Hi Torment funny you should say that, we do have a small foundry about 400 yards away and we tend to get more noise from there (including a low rumble) on a Sunday when thay are warming up for the week ahead, I suspected this place for a while for the lowest frequencies but we still got the drone all through the Christmas holidays when they were shut down. I believe the very low frequency in such places comes from the burners of kilns or ovens, I read somwhere that the burners need gas flow control to be retro fitted to make them quieter, so yes you could be on the right track there.
I'm still experimenting with the meter I got, the meter's needle moves in time with the drone but only with no weighting switched in, it is no wonder the council cannot measure anything as they use weighting in their measurements which seems crazy.
I can hardly believe it....went to brickworks earlier, and they were having a meeting.......they say they are using their noise people to measure around the works and possibly up here.....and they intend to find a way of dealing with it........I tried to explain I thought it was LFN......I hope they picked it up....or they may even know this already.
They have two works not far from each other.....it was always confusing because the furthest away one starts working when the nearest one stops.....so I hear two identical noises, one sounding nearer than the other.
The person who I thought was a manager, said "we got finished earlier last night"....I was able to say, yes, 1.30am..........If there is any doubt I can show them my noise diary.

JEFF......May I ask if you have checked if foundry totally 'turned off'......I understood they rarely 'turn off' completely.
PANDORA.......only just read your post......they don't appear to be arguing whether it's them or not.....as I arrived they were building a high bank at the end of the works between me and them....don't think that will do much good.......one of them said they could maybe put a few trees in to block it....
I put him straight on that one.

still can't believe it ![]()
Much more muffled last night but still clearly audible......vibration.....hum. Now that I can hear myself think again......am now considering next steps.....I contacted a firm of solicitors last year, and now considering contacting them again....after all I have been through.............
The piece of machinery which makes the rising thudding noise, is I believe, a block press used to make paving and bricks.....I wonder if that is it's only possible use!

10.09am Phone call from company.....to say working on problem.....poss cover for machinery.......use of noise meters there and here which measured across all frequencies......would have thought prevailing wind would take noise away
.........machinery which makes worst noise is working for 3 days a week.....not working last night.
I said yes could test with meters here....stressed re: LFN.........Mentioned my detailed diary......other people can hear noise and have contacted me........I may go back to them to say being dealt with........weather conditions do affect level of noise.
I don't expect this to be plain sailing.......I suspect they will use meters and say within acceptable levels under the terms of their permit. Am thinking I should go back to my MP..........contact Proff M again at Salford......and get back in touch with the solicitors I spoke to last year.......They suggested a group of us joining forces to take action......and go back to LA re terms of permit........
And I am not forgetting the couple who won their LFN case recently.......
2pm ish I have just sent email to Proff M at Salford with an update and asking for advice.
5.37pm Sent email to my Parish Councillor asking for help and advice.

wow woman
remind me not to tussle with you....I sense your on their backs and they know it
WELL DONE INDEED.....
DAY AT A TIME.....ONWARDS AND FORWARDS

Thank you Pandora,
The noise and vibration is worse since they put METAL
cover over machinery.......I'm feeling quite exhausted.......visited their office earlier and asked for the address to which I should send any legal documents/letters......when I got home their number was on the phone, they rang at 1.55pm.
Also, went into the local newspaper office and asked if they would put the whole sorry affair in the paper and gave basic details......the reporter said they would have to talk with the company first to get their side of the story.......I can imagine the possible lies already.......I am not giving up though, I've got this far......and I really have no other option....I cannot afford to move.........the solicitors I spoke to last year would do a no win no fee deal as long as it can be proved who is at cause, and it can be proved now...........It's really not me, to be doing all this, but this firms incredibly noisy machinery has driven me to it.
Somebody from the company phoned at 3.15 with assurances....The block press furthest away apparently has LFN shielding on it already.....provided by the manufacturers........... so they are aware there is a LFN problem. Told him it doesn't work. Told him I have spoken with a solicitor already and I need their address......just in case. And that I had been to the local paper.

have you checked if your home contents insurance would cover any legal fees???
No....it doesn't.....I have a feeling they wouldn't want it to go to court......I will go back to the solicitors and ask if no win no fee option still available.
May courage and strength be yours to see you through

As you suggest Pandora, day at a time......I don't know about strength and courage......I am just determined to see this through.....fix a point on the horizon and make for it......whatever it takes, within the law....
Phoned EH earlier.....logged a complaint, and mentioned firms permit....it depends on what sort of permit they have as to whether noise is restricted under it.....I'll research it. I think it may have been a new EHO person who I spoke with......
Dreading the block press being used......the LFN is unbearable.......
The firm mentioned that they had already put an LFN shield on the machinery at the further away site.........I think they did it in the middle of July 2010......made a slight difference.......and I think they may have first used this machinery around the 5th - 8th December 2009, this was when the nightmare began...... ![]()
