Topic: What should I be expected to put up with

Just wanted some opinions / feedback

We live next to a hotel - I posted a thread about our issues ( newbie needing lots of advice ) - and after my conversation with the recent purcheser ( and previous ones with previous landlords ) I was wondering - if you do live next to a hotel/pub what should you expect to put up with?

The thing is I feel that music should not be audible outside - if they want to have music door and windows should be shut and there should be adequate sound proofing - at the end of the day they use music to get the customers in - it's about profit so I feel the argument about the cost of soundproofing is null and void as it is required to mask something they use for increasing profit.

I also feel that beer gardens should be closed after a certain time - and a small smoking area provided in a position to prevent as least noise nuisance as possible.

Is this unreasonable? What is unreasonable? What is reasonable?

I expect to put up with - for example - the beer garden in the day - it does spoil the enjoyment of our garden but it's expected - but at night I really think they should respect the fact that they have neighbours - that while people say " but you live next to a pub " the opposite is true - " you bought a pub with neighbours " if you want to run a venue with impunity and expect to be able to make as much noise as you want then you make sure there is no one to be bothered by it!

Opinions welcomed smile
