Topic: My experience with nieghbours
I would just like to share my experience living with noisy neighbours.
In the past we have had a lot of noise and stuff from our nieghbours, and a lot of bad blood between us, I have always tried to talk my wife round to going round and sitting down for a talk with them.
At one point it got so bad ( about 4 years ago ), that my wife wrote a diary and sent it to the council, we also had LNN people out, who then issued letters to them to tone down the noise. Long story short, the past few years has been much, much better, every three to four months we get a little noise from them, but last week they decided to have a party to the early hours, shouting and loud music, we thought screw the council were get our own back, we put speakers against the walls and blasted slipknot through at 8am till 9am.
Well I think they got the message if looks could kill we would be dead.
Anyway on Friday I saw the man and girl looking at us with wide eyes like crazy wide, and I thought here we go,
.
As I looked at his face as I walked past the girl called to me and said something, I just turned around and said "look this shit needs to be sorted do you want to sort it out or WHAT "
1 hour later a few hundred apologies, and agreement that in future that if we do anything that annoys us to talk about it like adults to resolve it an exchange of names ( yes they have lived there for over 7 years ) and hand shakes, me and my Mrs walking away stunned but happy, and feeling bad for sending letters in the past.
The other agreement was that unless the noise is children waking up or playing up, then after 9pm the noise goes DOWN to very quite.
The nieghbours look like they were going to cry with relief that this had now been put to bed.
It made me feel better too, we explained that they should soon have new neighbours and they said they would talk to them to avoid a situation like this in future.
I guess the moral of the story is, dont be afraid to speak to your neighbours, you might just be supprised.
We have four kids, very young kids so you can imagine that sometimes the kds can play up, the problem with children and nuisances is that we can only deal with them after they have done something, sometimes we have little control over a disturbance, for instance our 2 year old would cry for about an hour at bedtime, we tried everything to stop him but he was going through a phase so we had to grin and bare it, now I know some of you here would be up in arms about it and complain, however we knocked on our neighbours house and explained what was going on, and apologised for any inconvienance caused.
So again the moral of the story is speak to your nieghbours.
