Re: Practical tips - things that have actually worked

Hi, and thanks for the reply.  In the end I was at my wit's end so I went round and knocked, and  knocked!  Ok, they didn't hear that so I was so annoyed that I wrote a note on A4 paper (it was a bit incoherant as I was stressed) , stuck it through the letterbox and went back in to my house.  Lo and behold, in less than 5 minutes the music was off and there was not a sound from next door!

So they probably went off to sleep, and I was unable to sleep, due to stress etc.

But a happy ending so far, let's hope it lasts.

The problem I have with some of the suggestions on here is that you are not dealing with the root cause of the problem.  I know buying earphones and things makes it easier to live with but these people deserve to be punished.  People really do put up with far too much from people. I have absolutely no qualms about calling the police or environmental health on people and I do not feel guilty about the fact I don't get on with my neighbours because when do the feel guilty about not getting on with me?

Hello and welcome PurplePlum,

The problem I have with some of the suggestions on here is that you are not dealing with the root cause of the problem. WE TRY.

I know buying earphones and things makes it easier to live with but these people deserve to be punished. YES THEY DO.

People really do put up with far too much from people. YES WE DO.

Do you have a plan that will guarantee a 100% success rate....or a 1% success rate....which would be a start hmm  hmm

I agree with Pandora!  We ahve to live with them and we try to get them to be quiet and rebel.  roll

But unless someone can come up with something that will work then we will carry on suffering!   yikes

Re: Practical tips - things that have actually worked

Hi, my neighbour uses her lawnmower, strimmer and chainsaw at times that we find 'unsociable'.  For instance this afternoon (Sunday) at 2.45pm she started cutting the bushes that border our two properties which is right outside our lounge window which is where we were all sitting and relaxing after Sunday lunch.  She does this consistently and is particularly bad through the summer when she will fire up her strimmer (which for some unknown reason is extremely loud) at 9pm.  One lovely sunny afternoon when we had guests and were sitting in the back garden, her partner started up the petrol lawnmower and started cutting the grass right beside the fence (four foot fence that separates our properties) so we had to move inside because we couldn't hear eachother speaking... Her favourite thing is to take four or five hours to cut the grass while taking breaks inbetween to text on her mobile or go into her house......! neutral
