Hi,

A couple of things entered my mind when I read your post: First of all, I am a musician, and I always try to respect my neighbors when I play, even if (if you've read my posts), they don't always respect my right to privacy.   I have the option of using headphones when I play, but your neighbors probably aren't able to do that.

Regardless, they have to obey the law and respect your privacy.  I am not a lawyer or police officer, but I think that many communities have quiet hours.  People in earlier posts mentioned the E.P.A. (Environmental Protection Agency).  I have no experience with them, and I believe that they don't have jurisdiction of these kinds of complaints.

I think that it's rude of your neighbors to say that because they have a concert, it gives them the "right" to disturb you.  I read in a couple of posts that some people are hesitant to call the cops in these situations.
You know, if someone were harassing you on the street, or at work, you'd go to the authorities, wouldn't you?  So I would just call the cops.  Document it, and don't stop until you get results.

I hope this offers some consolation.

Hi,

I have a noisy neighbour problem, but it is quite difficult to deal with. We live next door to a group of classical music students. It is an old house our bed room and living room are basicly seperated by a fireplace, so when they play ot sounds like it is in our living room/bedroom. Because it is a house full of music studetns they practice day and night. One plays the violin, another the cello and another the trumpet/sax. So when one isn't practicing the other is. The problem is....they obviously do this for a living so where do I draw the line. My house is not my own. They do not practice into the the wee hours...but it is pretty constant during the day, when i get home form work; I am a teacher so they disturb my holidays..They play at 8:30 on a sundays and waken me up on my day's off. I have had to shout at them to be quiet at 10:50 pm when they were having orchestra practice...about 10 of them playing  in their living room. I did go into them the other day as I got home form work at 7pm after getting up at 5:30am,  I let them play untill 9pm but i was so tired i jsut could not take any more. i asked them to stop and they said they cant becuse they have a concert in the moring...so they played on untill about 10:30pm. Tonight (Monday night...we are listening to them having a house party). If they are noisy at one thing i don't expect them to be noisy elsehwere. It is currently 10 pm)

Does anyone know if I have any rights?

Frustrated.
