I used to live in an end of terrace house with noisy neighbours. At least when the man worked it was only bad at weekends but then he got some unemployed lodgers, blaring music occurred at all times of day and night.

I used to have a polite word and things would improve for a while but then revert back to normal. When the young man’s girlfriend returned from abroad (I thought they’d split up) she was a civilising influence and things got more tolerable as the lodgers left.

One weekend I saw him helping her load up the car with all her goods and I thought she was moving out alone – I could have cried. Fortunately he went with her as they were being repossessed.

The new lot weren’t a lot better (it was great when the house was empty) so we moved to a detached property. Ironically, if we were terraced I can’t see either of our neighbours making a row.

My sympathies go out for all of you who suffer.
