I remember, a member was trying to interest someone in a small nuclear tactical device........ ![]()
Just found this thread this morning, Lord its amazing how many of us suffer from the noise of laminate/wooden flooring. Had a sound proofing chap in Friday, He got to hear the noise from the Gallaghers upstairs (Shameless) first hand, I was quite pleased about that, He told me its one of the most common complaints he has. He says he can reduce the noise by about 2/3rds, He also said with lam/wood flooring you can never eleminate the noise completely. He couldnt give me a price there and then, But did tell me it would be very expensive... I await his estimate with bated breath. Does anyone know how much a hitman would cost, probably cheaper than sound proofing.... (Joke).
Thanks, Jaytee. I hope you find your friend easily, and I hope that perhaps you could take a short, much-needed, break over here. Unless you're in Newport, when people are protesting about council cuts, you should find it pretty quiet! ![]()
Oh Bearness i think you have given me much needed inspiaration tonigth. When I lived and worked in England my best friend there was from the Isle of Wight. Have been thinking about her recently mainly due to making contact with old school friends via facebook and have been thinking about trying to find my Isle of Wight friend and then i logged on again and up pops the Isle of Wight. Think it might be the right time to find her. Hope all goes well with your mum's plans.
Yes, thanks, Joanna. Having managed, eventually, to speak to the husband, things are a lot better, but the landlord, who's related to them, was actually the one who called Mum racist. It would be good, wouldn't it, if everyone could solve their noisy neighbour problems as easily? Mum's soon moving over to live near us, anyway, assuming everything goes to plan - we live on the Isle of Wight. This wasn't because of the noise issue, but because she realised that she really could do with being nearer to family.
I see your point bearness. Thats awful to call someone a racist when it wouldnt matter if the noise maker was white, black, pink or orange!!!!!!!!
The council were lovely with me at first, but I reckon they only wanted to build a case against the male who shouldnt have been living there anyway, and as he has now ended up in prison, it seems to me, they think the main issue is sorted. Yes I dont have to put up with the music but the general noise from the female who has no respect for others at all.
I do hope your mum is ok now x
No, Jo, they are NOT believed by the authorities, but it costs the council too much in time and effort to bother with them. The more negligent councils know that troublesome neighbours will be trouble anywhere so, if they have a complainant who they know won't take them to the courts, then they'll do as little as possible.
My Mum said, at first, that her EH man was very nice, very understanding. Of course, he was, he didn't actually intend to do anything about the noise her neighbours were making. When the neighbours accused Mum of being racist, Mum was downright scared. She's in her 80s, and had people of all races as neighbours over the years. She's always got on fine with all of them, but was really worried when the neighbour called her a racist. She could imagine herself in court! What did the EH man say about the comment? "That's irrelevant!" Not to Mum it wasn't! ![]()
Always the way Jo, the victim can so easily be seen as the vilan and the real vilans get away with everything. Think we should take over the running of the country. Might do a better job.
Its just ridiculous Pandora...why are we branded the trouble maker when we are the victim?! Oh my neighbour has lied to me on 3 occasions, straight to my face.
They let their dog foul on public grass where children play, they have been caught playing music loudly, they break the law and one ends up in prison, they bang around at all hours of the day, they slam doors rather than closing them and THEY DONT EVEN HAVE A JOB SO CONTRIBUTE NOTHING TO SOCIETY!!! And yet these people are believed with the authorities...if it was a job interview, no one would touch them with a barge pole!!! I think it comes down to money, that it costs too much to take it to eviction, as the EH only have to deal with them wherever they move to so lets just brush it under the ever growing mound under the rug!!
Hi Ladies,
Same with my one upstairs. He can even look me straight in the eye and LIE.....
I'm made to feel like the troublemaker, the nusience, the one who imagines sounds....It's the icing on the cake of misery.
Plus some of the members here have reported being told there bordering harrassment of the perpetrators....
Good way to cloud the issue and 50% chance of winning such a claim

Not suprised you are mad.
He is brilliant Jaytee, and I dont want to move. These people are the only problem and the fact that they lied to EH and then EH bought it, just makes me mad!!!
Your landlord sounds a real gem that you would obviously like to keep.
I think your situation is dreadful Jo.
I live in a village but have experinced city living also, here and in Austrlalia and America and I have to say that here in the Uk the EH is not up to much. We are a disgrace.
